Make a complaint

Important information

Please read this information before submitting a complaint.

Using AI

If you used artificial intelligence (AI) to help write your complaint, please say so in the form. Please check the details yourself, especially if the AI was used to refer to legislation or previous cases.

For more information, please read our guide on using AI to write your complaint.

Length of complaints

Please limit your complaint to no more than three (3) pages or 1,000 words. This helps us to review your complaint and respond as quickly as possible. We will ask for more information if we need it.

Before you send your complaint to us

We can only accept complaints about Tasmanian public authorities.

If you are not sure if you can make a complaint to us, use this simple decision tree to find out whether we can help you.

Before making a complaint to us, please raise your issue with the public authority concerned and try to resolve it directly with them. Put your concerns in writing and give the authority a chance to respond. If you are not satisfied with the authority's answer, or if there is a long delay, you can complain to us.

How to give us your complaint

You can make a complaint to us by:

  • using our online complaint form
  • downloading our editable PDF complaint form and emailing or posting it to us
  • calling us on 1800 001 170
  • visiting us in person at our office.

We may ask you to put your complaint in writing before we make any inquiries. If you would like a hard copy of the complaint form to fill in, please call us and we will post one to you.

Completed forms can be hand-delivered, posted or emailed to us.

If you need more information or are not sure what to do next, please contact us.
