Ombudsman jurisdiction
The Tasmanian Ombudsman's function under the Ombudsman Act 1978 is to enquire into and investigate complaints about the administrative actions of Tasmanian Government Departments, Local Government Councils and a range of public authorities.
Our Mission
The Ombudsman serves the Tasmanian community by resolving individual grievances and addressing systemic issues arising from administrative matters in the public sector. Through independent, objective and impartial investigations, the Ombudsman promotes fairness and equity and aims to bring about improvements in the quality and standard of public administration.
